The Good Shepherd Centre Secure Care Facility, Glasgow
The facility comprises three residential houses, each accommodating up to six young people, totaling 18 secure beds. Additionally, there are six close support beds and one admission bed. The centre also includes education facilities, a gymnasium, and fitness suite, ensuring a holistic approach to care and development.
Designed around multiple courtyards, the building provides external areas for year-round recreation. Main services are routed within the roof void, allowing maintenance without entering private areas, such as bedrooms, thereby enhancing safety and privacy. Security measures include CCTV, door access control, and staff attack alarm systems, all integrated for prompt incident response. Strategically placed airlocks, controlled from a central communications hub, manage movement within the facility to prevent conflicts between house units.
The Good Shepherd Centre’s mission is to offer a positive, life-changing experience for young people through individualised care, education, and skills development.
