This project involved the transformation of the former flagship Topshop building on London’s Oxford Street into a modern IKEA small-format store, featuring a curated selection of furniture and accessories, a planning studio, as well as workplace and co-working facilities.
Our team undertook a detailed review and development of the MEP services for the project. The initial stage involved auditing the Stage 4 MEP design prepared by Ramboll, with a focus on identifying key risks, spatial coordination issues, missing information, compliance gaps, design inconsistencies, plant replacement strategy, and potential value engineering opportunities.
We provided feedback, proposing alternative design solutions to optimise cost, programme, installation, and maintenance outcomes. Energy and sustainability considerations were also incorporated, including CIBSE load checks using the existing IES-VE model to ensure performance objectives were met.
