New Monklands Replacement Project (MRP)
Wallace Whittle are appointed to deliver the technical design for MEP and sustainable services solutions for the New Monklands Replacement Project.
The 145,000m² project requires a holistic, innovative approach to the delivery of a highly sustainable low-carbon “next generation” hospital with a human centric approach to health, wellbeing and amenity. The designs are developed towards an agile/flexible working with embedded smart building technologies to accommodate the new approach to service provision post the COVID-19 era.
With a commitment to zero direct greenhouse gas emissions from heating (no reliance on fossil fuel heating), cooling or hot water systems Wallace Whittle adopted a strategic approach to project compliance through varied feasibility study reviews to obtain a viable direction to the Net Zero aspirations though client engagement and detailed energy modelling processes in line with target compliance with ‘Net Zero Carbon Public Sector Buildings (NZCPSB) guidance.
This state of the art facility brings a high level of care to the area with wide ranging provisions catered for with the new Emergency department, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Cancer Care, Pharmacy, clinical research facilities and ward blocks to name a few, all substantially catered for in a sustainable manner.
